After a long delay of five years, the fast track court of Alipore, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal has given its verdict in favor of Hussain Jahan, wife of Mohammed Shami.

A Kolkata court on Monday ordered Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami to pay Rs 1.30 lakh per month to his estranged wife Hussain Jahan. Out of Rs 1.30 lakh, Rs 50,000 will be Hussain Jahan’s personal expenses and the remaining Rs 80,000 will be towards the maintenance of his daughter who lives with him.

After the court order, Jahan was not happy with the amount of alimony paid to Shami as she demanded Rs 10 lakh per month from the Indian pacer. Where there is a possibility of appealing the decision to a higher court for overpayment. Alipore Court Judge Anandita Ganguly delivered the verdict on Monday, January 23.

Hussain Jahan and Mohammed Shami married in 2014 and have a daughter. Unfortunately this marriage did not last long. In 2018, Hussain accused her husband Shami of domestic violence and match-fixing. Although Shami was cleared after an investigation by the BCCI and allowed to be part of the Indian cricket team, the court case lasted for five years and ended on 18 January. The hearing was to be held on Monday, January 23.

Mohammed Shami has always denied Jahan’s claims and has also taken to social media to call the allegations false and said it was a conspiracy to defame him. Shami had told India Today that he was ready to apologise, if his allegations of infidelity and domestic abuse were proved to be true.
